Câu điều kiện loại 2 diễn tả tình huống không có thật hoặc khó xảy ra ở hiện tại/tương lai: If + quá khứ đơn, would + động từ nguyên mẫu. Dùng 'were' cho mọi ngôi khi trang trọng; If I were you dùng để khuyên.
Describes impossible, unlikely or imagined situations in the present or future and their imagined results. Were is used for all persons in formal style, and If I were you gives advice.

- Use the past form even though the meaning is present or future
- Were can replace was for all persons; If I were you is the standard advice form
- Could in the if-clause means were able to
- Might or could can replace would
