Singular and plural
news, police, a pair of…, động từ chia theo chủ ngữ.
1Khái niệm
Một số danh từ luôn ở dạng số nhiều (trousers, glasses, scissors), một số trông như số nhiều nhưng chia số ít (news, physics, the United States). Danh từ chỉ nhóm (family, team, police) có quy tắc riêng: police luôn chia số nhiều.
2Khi nào dùng
Đồ có hai phần: luôn số nhiều.
These shorts are perfect for the beach.
Đuôi -s nhưng chia số ít.
Maths is my favourite subject.
Danh từ chỉ nhóm.
The police are looking for him.

trousers, jeans, glasses, scissors: số nhiều (a pair of…). news và tên môn học: số ít. police, people: số nhiều.
Task 2: "People are…", "The police have…". Task 1: "20% of the population is…" (số ít).
