While và whereas nối hai mệnh đề để đối lập hai sự thật hoặc hai đối tượng (trong khi). Theo sau là mệnh đề đầy đủ, dùng dấu phẩy ngăn cách.

While and whereas contrast two different facts or ideas, often showing how two people or things differ.

Both are followed by a full clause
Use a comma when the clause comes first (and often before while/whereas in the middle)
While also has a time meaning, but here it shows contrast

5Ví dụ

My brother prefers city life, whereas I love the countryside.
While the first option is cheaper, the second is more reliable.

6Lỗi thường gặp

Whereas of my brother likes tea, I prefer coffee. (Whereas my brother likes tea)
My sister is tall whereas, I am short. (My sister is tall, whereas I am short.)
