Wish and If Only with the Past Simple

Wish/if only + quá khứ đơn hoặc quá khứ tiếp diễn dùng để diễn tả điều ước trái với thực tế ở hiện tại hoặc tương lai. Dạng quá khứ ở đây mang nghĩa hiện tại; If only mạnh hơn I wish.

Used to express a wish that the present or future were different from reality. The verb is in the past form but the meaning is present or future.

If only is stronger and more emotional than I wish
