Let, make và các động từ tri giác (feel, hear, notice, see, watch) được theo sau bởi tân ngữ + động từ nguyên mẫu không to. Nguyên mẫu thường chỉ hành động hoàn tất, V-ing chỉ hành động đang diễn ra. Ở bị động, make/hear/see dùng to + V.

Let and make, and the verbs of perception feel, hear, notice, see and watch, are followed by an object and the bare infinitive. The bare infinitive usually shows a completed action, while the -ing form shows an action in progress. In the passive, make, hear and see take the full infinitive.

• Active: made me wait; passive: I was made to wait
• Hear/see/feel/notice/watch + object + -ing shows an action in progress
